Hopes and Dreams will do everything possible to grant a child’s wish, whether their desire is to visit Disneyland, meet a celebrity, go behind the scenes of a TV show, ride in a helicopter or even swim with dolphins. We have provided specialist equipment to help improve mobility for very disabled children as well as a laptop and voice recognition software training for a child too poorly to attend school but desperate to keep up with his work and take exams. Hopes & Dreams stage a number of fundraisers during the year such as quiz and bingo evenings, as well as a bi-annual fashion show. We also receive funds from individuals and companies who take on challenges such as marathon walks and treks. We are therefore delighted that Tom and the team at Foresite have selected Hopes & Dreams as the beneficiary of funds raised from their Snowdon challenge in June.
Right now, one of the dreams we are planning is for a 16 year old boy with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which causes muscle tissue to die and for which there is no cure. Hopes & Dreams are organising for wheelchair bound Luke and his parents to visit DisneyWorld in Florida. They will have a specially adapted room at the resort, and will visit all the key attractions during their two week stay. Having a very disabled child increases all the costs associated with a holiday. In this instance it is costing over £4,500 and the insurance alone is an extra £600. Every penny raised by Foresite will go towards fulfilling this dream for Luke who will have the most brilliant holiday, and provide precious memories for his family to share forever.
